How to cash out your Tokins

October 12, 2026 · 3 min read

You sold the pre-rolls, posted the drop, passed the training. Now there's a number in your wallet. Here's exactly what it means and how to turn it into money you can spend.

What a Tokin is worth

Tokins are the reward currency on BudtenderX. One Tokin equals one cent. So:

  • 100 Tokins = $1
  • 1,000 Tokins = $10
  • 25,000 Tokins = $250

Everywhere you see a Tokin balance, you'll see the dollar value next to it. There's no exchange rate to look up and no points that expire on you.

How Tokins get into your wallet

Tokins arrive when you complete something a brand is rewarding:

  • Sell — a qualifying sale syncs from your store's POS.
  • Post — the brand approves your social post.
  • Refer — a customer redeems your code at checkout.
  • Learn — you pass a brand's course quiz.
  • Recruit — someone you invited signs up and gets verified.

Sales take a little time to show up because they arrive when the store's POS data syncs, which happens on a schedule during the day. If a customer returns an item you sold, the reward for that unit is reversed, so your balance always reflects net sales.

Choosing a payout method

When you're ready to cash out, open your wallet and choose how you want to be paid:

  1. Bank transfer (ACH) — straight to your checking account.
  2. Venmo — fast and convenient if you already use it.
  3. Prepaid Visa — a card you can spend anywhere Visa is accepted.

Pick the method, enter the amount, and confirm. You'll see the request move through its statuses — requested, processing, paid — so you always know where your money is.

Rewards on BudtenderX are always paid in cash or gift cards. You will never be paid in cannabis product.

Timing and minimums

How fast money arrives depends on the method. Any minimum cash-out amount or method-specific timing is shown before you confirm, so there are no surprises. If a payout fails — for example, because of a typo in your account details — it will show as failed and the Tokins return to your balance.

Keep your details current

A few things make payouts painless:

  • Make sure the name on your account matches the name on your bank or Venmo.
  • Double-check account numbers before your first payout.
  • Keep your phone number and email up to date so we can reach you if something needs fixing.

Taxes and record keeping

Rewards are income, and depending on how much you earn in a year, they may need to be reported on your taxes. Your wallet keeps a full history of every Tokin you've earned and every payout you've taken. Download or screenshot it at the end of the year, and talk to a tax professional if you're not sure what applies to you.

When to cash out

There's no right answer. Some budtenders cash out every week like a second paycheck. Others let Tokins pile up for a bigger goal. Your balance is calculated from a ledger that records every earning and payout, so it's safe either way.

A practical tip: if you're in a contest, check the final standings before cashing out so you can include any prize in the same payout.

If something looks wrong

If you think a sale is missing:

  1. Wait for the next POS sync — sales often appear a few hours later.
  2. Check that your store profile is linked and your POS employee ID is verified.
  3. Confirm the product is part of an active campaign at your store and that you joined the campaign before the sale.

Still missing? Reach out through the Help Center and include the date, time and product, and we'll look into it.

The short version

Earn Tokins, watch the dollar value, pick a payout method, and cash out whenever you like. It's your money — you did the work behind the counter, and BudtenderX makes sure you get paid for it.
